Today I have another card made with the Friendly Silhouettes stamps set, this time creating a baby card. Though the images from this set aren’t baby theme related, I thought this particular image would work perfectly. I love stamp sets that have images that can be versatile for any occasion. I chose to create a soft blend to stamp my silhouette image over and used a few elements from the Master Layouts collection for some added details. All of the stamps, inks, dies and cardstock are from Gina K. Designs. Let’s get started!!

I will be doing all of my work today on my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

To start, I take the stitched rectangle die from the Master Layouts 5 Die Set and cut out of Masking Magic, running them through my Big Shot Die Cut Machine. I then take the second largest die from the Single Stitched Circles Die Set and cut out of the same piece of Masking Magic slightly above center, running them through my Big Shot.

Next, I use the same stitched rectangle die from the Master Layouts 5 Die Set and cut out of White Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then remove the release paper from the Masking Magic die cut and line it up evenly over the cardstock die cut and press into place. I now have the entire cardstock panel covered in masking paper except for the circle opening.

Using my Blending Brushes, I start by blending Lovely Lavender Ink over the top portion and sides of the circle opening, fading out as I blend down. I then blend Plum Punch Ink lightly over the top of the circle opening and fade out the ink as I blend out making sure I don’t cover all of the previous color. I now have a lavender blend that fades out to almost white towards the bottom of the opening.

Leaving the mask still intact I place the panel into my MISTI Stamp Positioner and place the greeting I want to use at the bottom of the circle opening to figure out the placement of my images. I then choose an image from the Friendly Silhouettes Stamp Set and place it coming out from the top left, just above the greeting. I remove the greeting stamp and use Amalgam Obsidian Black Ink to stamp the image over the mask onto the circle opening. I clean off the stamp and then place it over the left side of the opening and again stamp it with Amalgam Obsidian Black Ink. to fill in the open area between the images I stamp a portion of the same image. Now that the images have been stamped I carefully remove the mask. All of my images are now contained within the ink blended circle. *Each image was stamped two times to get a nice dark solid image.

Now it’s time to stamp my greeting. I place the panel back into my MISTI and line up a greeting from the Welcome Home Stamp Set over the lower portion of my blended circle, just below the previously stamped images and stamp it using Plum Punch Ink. *I stamped the greeting three times to achieve a nice dark plum color. Taking a small sentiment from the same Welcome Home Stamp Set I line it up just under the greeting and stamp it with Amalgam Obsidian Black Ink.

Next, I take the scalloped rectangle die from the Master Layouts 4 Die Set and cut out of Lovely Lavender Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. I then add some Terrific Tape to the back of my stamped panel and adhere it to the scalloped panel.

I place a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of White Cardstock into my Scor Buddy and score it at 4 1/4″ creating a side folding card base. For a little dimension I add Foam Tape to the back of the panel then mount it onto the card base.

I wanted to add a little something to the card for accent so I took the button dies from the Master Layouts 4 Die Set and cut out of Lovely Lavender Cardstock, running them through my Big Shot. To add some texture to the button die cuts I temporarily adhered them onto a scrap strip of cardstock then pressed my Versamark Ink Pad over them, added Clear Embossing Powder then heat set with my Heat Tool. I then tied some twine from my stash through the button holes.

Using Liquid Glue I adhered the two round button die cuts to the lower left side of the card front. I then added a Foam Square to the back left side of the heart button die cut and added Liquid Glue to the back right side then mounted it on top of the other two die cuts.

With my Jewel Picker I added a few Dew Drops with Liquid Glue and this completes my card.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card! I love the versatility this stamp set gives, and look forward to playing around with it some more. In my previous post I used the tree line image from this same stamp set to create a masculine card. It’s fun having a stamp set for so many different uses. If you enjoy creating backgrounds, silhouette stamps are the perfect images to use for a quick and easy look that gives stunning results!
